The Barber of Seville

Praised as the "comic opera of all comic operas," Gioachino Rossini’s Barber of Seville has amusing disguises, vocal fireworks, and melodies familiar to both the seasoned opera lover and the first-timer.

This production, which features full orchestra, soloists and chorus, will be sung in Italian with English supertitles projected above the stage.

A new series in McCarter's Berlind Theatre featuring all of Opera New Jersey's artists in a more intimate setting.

Menotti's The Consul was premiered on Broadway in 1950. Many composers have crossed the divide between Broadway and Opera. This concert celebrates those composers with works by Weill, Menotti, Sondheim, Loesser, and others. Featuring the artists of the Victoria J. Mastrobuono Emerging Artists Program.

A new series in McCarter's Berlind Theatre featuring all of Opera New Jersey's artists in a more intimate setting.

Gilbert and Sullivan Favorites

The masters of operatic comedy wrote works that are as funny and timely today as they were in the 19th century. Join the artists of the Victoria J. Mastrobuono Emerging Artists Program in excerpts from some of their greatest works.

The Consul

Opera New Jersey presents this tale of oppression, bureaucracy, and desire for freedom, set upon the backdrop of an unnamed eastern bloc country.

Gian Carlo Menotti’s first full-length opera, often considered his finest, premiered 60 years ago in Philadelphia. and is presented as a celebration of his centenary in 2011.

This production, which features full orchestra, and soloists will be sung in English with English text projected above the stage.

Location: The Matthews Theatre at the McCarter Theatre Center

Two of American's leading singing actresses in a staged reading of a new work by leading American composer Thomas Pasatieri (Frau Margot, The Seagull) and librettist Daphne Malfitano, which is written specifically for them. Opera New Jersey is thrilled to partner with New York based American Opera Projects, this country's most exciting source of new opera and music theater.
